AFTERCARE INFO
Post-care is very important to the appearance and longevity of your new cosmetic tattoo. Healing time is approximately 10-14 days in most cases.
Immediately post-procedure the area may be red, swollen, and darker than it will ultimately heal. Some people may experience mild discomfort in the treated area. You may ice the area or take an anti-inflammatory post-procedure.
AVOID FOR 14 DAYS:
Exercise and activities that promote excessive sweating.
Swimming, steam, hot tubs and any bodies of water.
Topical makeup and skincare including sunscreen, especially chemical exfoliants (AHA/BHA/Retinoids).
Neurotoxins (Botox), facials, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion.
Direct sun exposure or tanning.
Exposure to air-borne debris.
Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage, basement or gardening.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
Use a fresh pillowcase and sheets.
Drink plenty of water to keep the skin hydrated and supple (especially for Lip Blush).
Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally fall away. Do not rub, scratch, or pick!
Once completely healed, always apply sunscreen; sun exposure will cause the colour to fade prematurely or alter the colour of the pigment. Exfoliation over the tattoo, manual and/or chemical, will also cause the colour to fade.
Please remember this is a two-procedure process; keep in mind that not all of the pigment will retain after your first appointment. Your second procedure should be done in approximately 8-12 weeks and fill sessions are recommended approximately every 12-36 months to keep your cosmetic tattoo looking optimal.
This is an art, not a science; the client’s results will vary, and using cosmetics may still be needed. Remember, no two sides of the face are the same, balance is our goal.
If there is any consistent pain, oozing, swelling or infection, please seek the advice of a health care professional and contact us immediately.
brows
day of Procedure:
Use provided cotton pads to compress and absorb any fluid. It’s recommend to do this every 15 minutes for the first hour than every 1-2 hours afterwards. Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymph and can prevent or lessen scabbing.
Days 2-14:
Very gently and thoroughly cleanse the area 2-3 times a day, pat dry.
Using a cotton swab or clean fingertips apply a very thin layer of the provided aftercare twice a day (about the size of a grain of rice). You may apply more often during the dry/flakey phase if needed. If it appears shiny or you can see any product, dab with a tissue. Using too much product will suffocate the area and delay healing. Never apply the aftercare to wet/damp skin.
If the area seem to weep between washing use a tissue or cotton pad to blot.
Avoid any rubbing, scratching or picking of the area and let scabs naturally fall off.
Healing
Your new eyebrows may come as a dramatic change and may take some time to get used to. The following is a guideline however it may vary from person to person.
Days 1-5:
The pigment may appear very sharp and dark. The pigment will soften gradually; you can expect to see about a 20%-40% reduction in colour. Scabs may begin for form during this time. It is crucial that you do not pick or scratch them as it may result in loss of pigment or scarring.
Days 5-10:
You may experience light flaking and patchiness; there is new skin forming and can cause the area to appear lighter during this period of time.
Days 10-14:
The brows should start making a comeback and your healed result will start to show. The brows are not technically healed for about a month although they may seem healed after two weeks. Be mindful that they are sensitive and may still experience slight changes in colour.
LIPS
Day of Procedure:
Use provided cotton pads to compress and absorb any fluid. It’s recommend to do this every 15 minutes for the first hour than every 1-2 hours afterwards. Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymph and can prevent or lessen scabbing.
It’s very important to keep the lips moisturized; apply the provided aftercare often throughout the day.
Lips will feel tender and may be quite swollen. Use an ice pack every few hours for a few minutes to reduce swelling and discomfort. You may also take an anti-inflammatory such as Ibuprofen.
Day 2-14:
Very gently and thoroughly cleanse the area 2-3 times a day, pat dry and use the provided aftercare to moisturize the lip area frequently.
You can use an ice pack until the swelling has subsided and lips are back to their normal size.
Healing
Day 1-2
The colour will initially appear very bright, this is normal and you can expect them to lighten by about 20%-40% during healing process. You will likely have swelling and mild bruising over a couple of days.
Day 2-5:
Most people will start to experience peak dryness and scabbing. Keep them hydrated and do not pick, pull or scratch at the area.
Day 5-14:
The lips will start to crack and peel. Once this stage is completed it will appear that the colour is completely gone. Do not get disappointed, the colour can take up to 4 weeks to show your true healed results. The colour blooming process will begin during this timeframe. This is when the colour starts to come back with a soft tint. The lips will still feel dry however it should be less severe. Dryness can last 2-6 weeks so you’ll want to continue to use the balm aftercare however you can mix it up with any preferred lip moisturizer.
Things to consider:
Avoid spicy and salty foods.
Change your mask often if wearing one.
LINER
Day Of Procedure:
Use provided cotton pads to compress and absorb any fluid. It’s recommend to do this every 15 minutes for the first hour than every 1-2 hours afterwards. Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymph and can prevent or lessen scabbing. You may use an ice pack to reduce swelling or take an anti-inflammatory.
Day 1-10:
Clean the area 2-3 times a day. Continue to ice the area if swelling is still present. Apply a small amount of provided ointment to the area if needed (rice sized amount for both lids).
Healing
Day 1-2:
The lids will be mildly swollen and tender for a couple of days, some people experience minding bruising as well.
Days 2-10:
The area will lightly flake and there may be fluctuations in colour. Colour can take up to 2-4 weeks to show healed results.
Things to consider:
Do not use contact lenses for 7 days.
Discontinue using any eye makeup and remover or eye cream for 7 days.
SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION
The evening before your SMP appointment please ensure you gently exfoliate the area to remove any dirt and debris and to make sure the scalp is in prime condition for the treatment. Please come to your appointment with clean, dry hair that has no products or oils in it. Additionally, follow any Cosmetic Tattoo pre-care instructions.
Days 1-7:
Avoid any water, shampoo, oils, lotions, and hair products, keep your hair dry and use the provided cap during showers.
Blot scalp with water and a paper towel 1-2 times a day to keep the area clean.
You may apply a thin layer of the provided aftercare once a day if needed to relieve itching. Less is more, you want your scalp to breathe!
Avoid any activities that cause sweating should be avoided along with swimming, steam, hot tubs, and bodies of water.
Avoid prosthetic pieces, hats and helmets for prolonged periods.
Scalp shaving should be avoided for 10 days post-procedure.
HEALING
Immediately after the procedure, the area will be red, swollen, and mildly tender. The results will look darker initially but will lighten over the course of 14 days. You can expect light flaking and mild scabbing, do not pick, pull or scratch the area.
SALINE LIGHTENING
Please follow any Cosmetic Tattoo pre-care instructions prior to your appointment.
First 48 Hours:
The treated area must be allowed to fully dry out over the next 48 hours. If the skin is not allowed to dry out quickly you will not get the best results.
Only touch with very clean hands (ideally no touching for 48 hours).
Do not use any other aftercare during this initial drying out phase.
Do not get the area wet or sweaty for 48 hours.
For lip liner treatments, during this phase keep movements small and to a minimum.
AFTER 48 HOURS:
Apply the provided aftercare cream in one single application (on and slightly around the scab). This single application will last for 3 to 4 days, leaving a soft film over the scabbed area.
You can get the area a little wet when washing and showering but avoid rubbing the area. After any wetness, gently blot the area dry.
No excessive wetting of the area, no swimming, steam, saunas, or bodies of water for 2 weeks post-treatment.
Do not use any skincare, sunscreen or cosmetic products on or around the treated area for 2 weeks.
Depending on the area treated, the scab will remain firmly attached for 5 to 14 days. Any excessive movements are likely to crack the scab, which is not ideal for easy healing.
At no time can you pick off the attached scabs as you will cause unwanted results.
HEALING
The area will be red, swollen, and tender directly after the appointment but will generally start to calm down within the day and start to feel dry. After a couple of days, a light scab will form. You may see pigment visible in the scab. It’s very important not to pick, pull, rub or scratch the area as it can cause scarring or poor results. The scabbing will last approximately 5-14 days. Once all the scabbing has naturally fallen off you may continue with your regular skincare and cosmetic routine however be mindful that the area is not fully healed for at least 4 weeks and may still be sensitive.
BEAUTY SERVICES
For best results, it is important not to wet the area for 24 hours after a Sculpting, Lamination or Henna Treatment.
LAMINATION
After 24 hours you can go about your regular skincare and cosmetic application routine. 1-2 times a week it’s ideal to use your hair conditioner on the brow area for a few minutes to prevent excessive dryness. An application of oil such as Castor oil can also be used a few times a week at night as well. Lamination can be repeated every 8 weeks (no sooner).
SCULPTING | HENNA
It’s ideal to exfoliate the area and keep it hydrated 24 hours before the treatment to remove any dead skin as the henna can stain those areas darker. 24 hours after the application you can wet the brows again but be mindful to use gentle skincare products, if any, over the area and avoid any scrubs or oils over the area as it will fade the skin stain prematurely. Henna can be repeated monthly if desired.
